Andrew Bird’s Break It Yourself
On Tuesday I received this album - a late but much appreciated birthday present. Though I’d be struggling to not download the leak and to listen to it as soon as I downloaded it I didn’t. David (the present-giver) told me to wait. And I did… until now, Sunday night. This was for a number of reasons.
- I love Andrew Bird so much I just want this to be the greatest thing ever and not a let down.
- I have been busy and just want to sit down and listen to it.
- I don’t have adequate technology (shite earphones and speakers) in order to listen to it the way it deserves, even though I listen to everything else with my shit earphones.
- I’m going to cry and want to minimise the likelihood of people I don’t want to judge me crying at beautiful music. (I’m a twat.)
With only one person in the room (who has seen me cry for a number of ridiculous reasons before) who has given me his much better earphones for this album only and even though I kind of have an essay to write, I’m finally ready to hit the play button. And I’m going to write about it like a twat. PS I know next to nothing about music, I just like it. Here we go!
